Recycled Plastic Boardwalk Project April 2015

Secure-a-Field were asked to install a boardwalk through the Urban forest park in Coalville near the Snibston Discovery Centre. Formerly a landfill site, Urban forest park has been transformed into an important habitat for wildlife, with over 8,400 trees planted in the last decade. Urban forest park is very popular with local residents. However, due to the nature of the site, one of the footpaths had become extremely waterlogged.  The 50 metre boardwalk now allows walkers to make safe use of the once flooded footpath, benefiting from the anti-slip composite surface. By using anti-slip timber effect composite deck boards mounted onto a recycled plastic substructure, the long lasting boardwalk will require very little on-going maintenance for the parks team at North West Leicestershire District Council.
