Overview

Secure-a-Field returned to Porchester Primary School for a second project this year, following a successful earlier installation. This latest phase focused on upgrading the entrance and surrounding fencing near the school’s reception area, improving access control and enhancing site security.

Scope of Works

Our team was tasked with removing the existing gates and infill panel to the right-hand side of the main reception approach. In their place, we installed a new 2760mm wide single leaf gate, complete with a 90-degree hold-back post for controlled opening. The original infill panel was repositioned on the left-hand side of the new gate to connect with the existing railings.

Further improvements included the installation of a second single leaf gate, 1460mm wide, and a 1000mm infill panel to effectively close off the area between the new gate and the school building.

Design and Installation Considerations

Porchester Primary required a solution that would both secure key access points and maintain a welcoming feel for pupils, parents, and visitors. All works were completed during school term time with a focus on safety, efficiency, and minimising disruption to daily operations.

By reusing and repositioning existing components where possible, we delivered a cost-effective result without compromising on performance or finish. The new gates are robust, easy to operate, and in keeping with the school’s security standards and visual environment.

Outcome

The updated gate layout provides better control over access to the school grounds, particularly at busy drop-off and pick-up times. The project has enhanced safeguarding measures while keeping the site looking tidy and professional — something the school team were particularly keen to maintain.
