Secure-a-Field recently completed a fencing project at Greenstone Primary School in Coalville (LE67 1HQ), delivering a practical perimeter solution designed to improve safety, manage access and support the day-to-day running of the site.

Project overview

The school needed a reliable boundary that would enhance pupil safety while allowing controlled access for staff and visitors. The brief was straightforward: install a system that works properly, lasts, and fits naturally within a primary school environment.

Bowtop fencing installation

The project involved installing approximately 90 metres of 1800mm high bowtop fencing. This style is widely used in schools due to its safe design and unobtrusive appearance.

Why bowtop fencing was selected

Bowtop fencing offers a strong and secure boundary without feeling overly industrial. The smooth top line and anti-trap spacing make it suitable for younger children, while still providing a robust perimeter.

The system used on this project is compliant with RoSPA guidance and designed for long-term use with minimal maintenance.

Working with site levels

The fencing was installed using a self-raking design, allowing it to follow changes in ground level across the site. This avoids gaps beneath the fence and creates a consistent, tidy finish throughout.

Pedestrian gate and access control

To complete the installation, a semi-automatic pedestrian gate was fitted to provide controlled access.

Gate details

The gate includes a 1200mm opening, a hydraulic self-closing hinge and a maglock handle for secure operation. All components were galvanised and powder-coated in RAL 9005 black to match the fencing and provide long-term durability.

This setup gives staff a straightforward and reliable way to manage access without complicating daily use.

Installation approach

The work was carried out on a live school site, so care was taken to minimise disruption and maintain a safe working environment at all times. The team is experienced in working within schools and understands the importance of clear communication and tidy, well-managed installations.
