Security and Bow Top Fencing Installation at West Coventry Academy

Project Overview

Secure-a-Field was appointed by West Coventry Academy to undertake a two-phase fencing project to improve site security and safety across key areas of the school grounds. The project included the installation of high-security perimeter fencing at a rear footpath, followed by the supply and installation of bow top fencing around a pond area, providing both controlled access and safe boundary demarcation.

Phase 1: Rear Gates Footpath – Defender 8T Security Fencing

The first phase involved the installation of a robust perimeter solution along the rear footpath, an area used regularly by staff and students. A total of 116 metres of 2-metre high Defender 8T twin wire security fencing was installed, providing a strong physical barrier designed to deter unauthorised access and increase on-site safety.

To allow for controlled entry and exit, two 1200mm wide pedestrian gates were included in the line, as well as one 4000mm wide vehicle access gate. All gates were designed to match the fencing specification, ensuring a consistent and secure perimeter solution. The Defender 8T system offers high performance, low maintenance, and is well-suited to school environments where durability and visibility are essential.

Phase 2: Upper Pond Area – Bow Top Fencing

The second phase focused on the upper pond area, where fencing was required to enhance safety without disrupting the natural aesthetics of the landscape. Approximately 272 metres of 1.2-metre high bow top fencing was installed, offering a safe and attractive boundary to prevent unauthorised access to the water's edge.

In keeping with the design, a 1200mm wide matching gate was also installed, allowing for controlled access when maintenance or supervision is required. Bow top fencing is a popular choice in educational settings due to its smooth, rounded profile and safe, child-friendly design.

Outcome

The completed works now provide West Coventry Academy with an effective and visually cohesive fencing solution across both high-security and low-risk areas. The Defender 8T fencing delivers strong, long-lasting perimeter security, while the bow top system offers a safe and sympathetic boundary around a natural feature.
