Aldercar Infant & Junior School

Secure-A-Field recently completed a full perimeter fencing upgrade at Aldercar Infant & Junior School in Langley Mill, Nottinghamshire, helping the school strengthen site security ahead of the new term.

The requirement

Located in Langley Mill, near Heanor and Ilkeston in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, the school needed to replace its ageing timber picket fencing with a more secure and durable solution.

The existing fencing no longer met modern school security standards, and there was a clear need to improve safeguarding while maintaining easy access for staff and vehicles.

The project also had to be completed within a tight timeframe to avoid disruption during term time.

The solution

Our team removed the existing timber fencing and gates before installing 50 metres of 1.8m high Defender V mesh green security fencing, a widely used system for schools across Nottinghamshire and the wider East Midlands.

By keeping to the original fence line wherever possible, we reduced ground disruption and kept the installation efficient.

To maintain site access, we installed:

• A 3m wide double leaf vehicle access gate
• A 1.5m wide single leaf access gate

Ground conditions and installation

We installed posts using a ballast and cement mix to ensure long-term strength and stability.

Where the works impacted existing surfaces, including tarmac areas, repairs were completed to leave the site safe and tidy.

The result

The completed installation provides a strong, low-maintenance perimeter that significantly improves security for the school.

The Defender V mesh fencing offers clear visibility for safeguarding while acting as a deterrent to unauthorised access, making it a popular choice for schools throughout Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and the surrounding areas.
